MIB Group, Inc.
Organized in
1902, MIB's core fraud protection services protect insurers,
policyholders and applicants from attempts to conceal or omit
information material to the sound and equitable underwriting of
life, health, disability, and long term care insurance.
Fair pricing of
insurance products are most dependent on accurate risk assessmen,
this includes, risk classification and risk selection.
A determination of these factors begins with the assurance of
accurate health information supplied on the insurance application
concerning the proposed insured.
MIB is an association of over 500 U.S. and Canadian life insurance
companies providing information and database management services to
the financial services industry.
MIB is a non-profit membership organization of life insurance
companies.
MIB operates an information exchange on behalf of its members.
If you apply to another MIB member company for life or health
insurance or if a claim for benefits is submitted to a member
insuring company, the MIB will supply the member company with the
information in its file.
Information
regarding your insurability will be treated as confidential.
However, member insurers may, make a brief report to the Medical
Information Bureau.
Upon receipt of a
request from you, the MIB will arrange disclosure of any information
it may have in your file.
If you question the accuracy of information in the MIB file, you may
contact the MIB and seek a corrective action.
The procedures set for this request is established by the Fair
Credit Reporting Act.
Insurers, may also
release information in its file to other life insurance companies to
whom you may apply for life or health insurance, or to whom a claim
for benefits may be submitted.
